SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Feb. 28)—Trelleborg Automotive and Tokai Rubber Industries have formed a strategic alliance to jointly supply global automotive contracts for anti-vibration components, pursue joint research and development of the parts and combine purchases of the raw materials needed to make them. In Europe where Trelleborg has a much stronger presence, it will take the developmental and manufacturing lead, while Tokai heads up the Asian end of contracts. The pact is an extension of a joint development agreement between Tokai and the former Draftex operations for AVS components on the new Renault Nissan B car.
