SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Feb. 9)—Diversified manufacturer Carlisle Cos. Inc. unveiled Feb. 8 record sales and profits from the year ended Dec. 31. The Syracuse-based firm, which includes subsidiary Carlisle Tire & Wheel, reported 12-month sales of $1.77 billion, up about 10 percent from the $1.61 billion posted in 1999. Carlisle´s acquisitions for the year were the primary contributor to the sales increase, the company said. Net earnings for 2000 were $96.2 million, compared to $95.8 million the year before. Despite the records set in both categories, the overall economic slowdown in the fourth quarter was reflected in earnings and sales. Fourth-quarter sales in 2000 were up 5 percent to $413.3 million, but earnings fell to $10.6 million from $21.3 million in 1999.
