LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Jan. 31)—Tenneco Automotive will eliminate another 405 salaried jobs in response to continued weakness in the global automotive aftermarket and slowdowns in North American original equipment production volumes. Effective today, Tenneco will cut 215 positions, with the rest accomplished by the first quarter of next year. The rubber-to-metal parts maker will take charges of up to $14 million this year related to its most recent cuts which follow an October announcement of the elimination of 700 salaried positions. Combined, the two initiatives will reduce the auto supplier´s salaried work force by 22 percent and save it $72 million annually, Tenneco said.
