MELKSHAM, England (Jan. 23)—Avon Rubber P.L.C. is experiencing a slowdown in sales of components to the U.S. automotive market and difficult trading conditions in the United Kingdom, but expects its first-quarter results to be in line with those of last year. "Significant cuts to U.S. vehicle output have affected our own production levels in North America during December and January," the company said. But Avon expects to offset its U.S. business decline with cost savings from recent restructuring and improved sales from its plants in continental Europe, the firm said.
