SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Jan. 23)—GenCorp Inc. subsidiary Aerojet-General Corp. has joined six other companies in signing an agreement with San Gabriel, Calif., water authorities to implement a groundwater cleanup project in the Baldwin Park Superfund Operable Unit of San Gabriel Valley. The group, which also includes Wynn Oil Co., has provided $4.1 million in immediate funds. The project should meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency´s Superfund cleanup requirements, safeguard water supplies for residents and businesses in the area and improve treatment and distribution of the water, while resolving groundwater contamination issues that first surfaced in 1979. Its commitment on the project has moved the company to "a leading position in the development of environmental treatment technologies never before available," Aerojet said.
