MARIETTA, Ga. (Jan. 22)—Columbian Tiszai Carbon, a Hungary-based plant owned by Columbian Chemicals Co., has completed its 1,331st consecutive day without a recordable safety incident. It´s the longest incident-free streak in Columbian Chemicals´ history, surpassing the firm´s Santander, Spain, plant´s mark of 1,300 set in 1999. Columbian Tiszai Carbon had just one recordable incident in the last six years, said Jack Walsh, president of Columbian Chemicals. The Hungary and Spain facilities are among four that have gone more than three years without an accident. The others are the producer of carbon black´s El Dorado factory in the U.S. and the Trecate site in Italy.
