PITTSBURGH (Jan. 17)—Bayer Corp.´s Polyurethanes Division has raised prices for all toluene diisocyanate (TDI), diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) and polyol products and for all polyurethane systems in January. The price increases reflect higher costs throughout 2000 for energy and raw materials used to produce PU raw materials, the company said. In order to improve its PU materials manufacturing cost structure, Bayer said it is continuing an internal cost reduction initiative. The price increases include: 12 cents per pound for Mondur and Desmodur TDI, effective Jan. 1; 8 cents a pound for Mondur and Desmodur MDI, effective Jan. 15; 10 cents a pound for Multranol, Arcol, Acclaim and Hyperlite polyol products, effective Jan. 1; and 8 cents a pound for polyurethane systems, including Bayflex, Baydur, Bayfill and Baynat, effective Jan. 1.
