WASHINGTON (Jan. 9)—Total Canadian replacement tire shipments were up 12.4 percent to 2.08 million units for November, according to data gathered by the Rubber Association of Canada. Year-to-date figures for total shipments also were up 1.9 percent to 17.5 million units from 17.2 million in 1999. Passenger shipments leaped 16.7 percent to 1.7 million from 1.5 million units for November. Truck/bus shipments took a 3.3-percent dip for the month and a decrease of less than 1 percent for the year-to-date. Inner tube shipments plunged 43.6 percent to 28,465 units from 50,435. Year-to-date figures also slumped in the tube category, with a 19.5-percent decrease to 640,648 units from 795,666.
