AKRON (Jan. 4)—The ACS Rubber Division has named an executive director as part of a restructuring, and set Feb. 1 as a deadline to lease office space at the University of Akron campus or move elsewhere in Akron. The division named Edward Miller, formerly president and CEO of the Asphalt Institute, as its first executive director. Three managers—who individually will handle education, expo and future sites, and meetings—and two part-time administrative assistants will be hired in the restructuring. The division will stop funding its current staff members, who are UA employees, on June 30, and they will be given the option of applying for the new positions. For several years the association has tried to conclude an agreement to obtain a 25-year lease on campus in exchange for a $1 million gift to the university, but the matter hasn´t been settled. The division said it expects a contract will be signed by that date.
