STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Jan. 2)—Trelleborg A.B. has completed its acquisition of Laird Group P.L.C.´s automotive components business, strengthening its position as a world leader in the field of automotive antivibration products and systems. Trelleborg now claims an approximate 25-percent global market share in in this area. Completion of the deal follows clearance of the purchase by all required authorities, Trelleborg said. The Swedish company paid $160 million for the Laird business—corresponding to around 0.5 times the company´s sales, or five times its earnings before financial items and depreciation, Trelleborg said. The acquired business has annual sales of approximately $295 million, with more than 3,000 employees at 16 production units in six countries, mainly in Europe.
