STADE, Germany (Dec. 15)—Dow Chemical Co. announced it will have increased the purity of synthetic glycerine produced at its Stade facility to 99.7-percent from 99.5-percent minimum assay by the end of December. The new, higher-quality product will be marketed as Optim Glycerin 99.7 percent USP/EP, completely replacing Dow Glycerine 99.5 percent, and will be identical to the Optim Glycerin 99.7 USP made at Dow´s synthetic glycerine facility in Freeport, Texas. The upgrades are made possible through changes in the refining process, and shipments of the new glycerin should begin in January, Dow said.
