COLMAR BERG, Luxembourg (Dec. 11)—Goodyear subsidiary TC Debica S.A. plans to cut about 800 jobs at its Debica, Poland, plant by the end of 2001, "to improve cost efficiency and strengthen the operation to enable it to play an increased role in the future," according to a Goodyear spokesman. The cuts represent about 20 percent of the plant´s 4,218-strong workforce. Established in 1939, Debica is the leading supplier of passenger and light truck tires in the Polish market, though the majority of its 34,000 units-per-day production is for export, Goodyear said. Goodyear bought control of Debica in 1996.
