ROANOKE, Va. (Dec. 7)—The operating subsidiaries of rubber and plastic foam manufacturer RBX Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy relief Dec. 7 in hopes of solving debt- and liquidity-related problems that have pestered the firm for the past few years. The filing of voluntary bankruptcy petitions in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware was in response to an involuntary petition filed Dec. 5 by a group of creditors. The RBX subsidiaries filing for Chapter 11 are Rubatex Corp., Groendyk Manufacturing Co. Inc., Oletex Inc., Midwest Rubber Custom Mixing Corp. and Hoover Hanes Rubber Custom Mixing Corp.
