TROY, Mich. (Dec. 5)—Collins & Aikman Corp. has purchased Comet, a leading acoustic software developer specializing in computer-aided engineering software for reducing low-frequency noise in automotive and other industries. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Collins & Aikman did say the purchase would be neither accretive or dilutive to earnings. Comet´s "highly regarded acoustic experts" will further enhance its capabilities to provide custom, automotive acoustic solutions, Collins & Aikman said. Comet´s capabilities will be integrated with Collins & Aikman´s Plymouth, Mich. acoustic testing facility.
