KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 21)—The United Steelworkers of America union reached a tentative master agreement with Michelin North America Inc. Nov. 19 for the company´s three organized Uniroyal Goodrich plants. The new three-year deal, if ratified, will follow closely the bargaining pattern set earlier this fall when the USWA reached agreements with Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. at nine of its tire and rubber plants, a union spokesman said. The contract likely will be voted on and ratified by the middle of the week of Nov. 27, he said. About 4,000 workers at Uniroyal Goodrich radial tire plants in Fort Wayne, Ind.; Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and Opelika, Ala., will be included in the pact.
