LAS VEGAS (Nov. 15)—Neoprene-backed fabrics are making waves in automotive seating. The new materials target drivers with a love for outdoor activities, but not the moisture that often accompanies them. Bestop Inc., the Jeep Wrangler custom outfitting division of Decoma International Inc.´s Exterior Systems will introduce neoprene-backed wet suit-covered seats for the 2001 model year to the aftermarket by next summer. Logan, Utah-based Saddleman Inc., an aftermarket parts maker and distributor, six months ago began marketing Hawaiian-print, neoprene-backed fabric covers that can be fitted on original equipment seats.
