FINDLAY, Ohio (Nov. 9)—Union workers at Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.´s Findlay tire plant ratified a new three-year deal with the company Nov. 7. The pact includes wage and pension increases and leaves open the possibility for a change to continuous operations and 12-hour shifts. Members of United Steelworkers of America Local 207 approved the deal, which lapses Oct. 31, 2003, by a vote of 514-400. The previous three-year contract was to expire Oct. 31, but the two sides reached a tentative agreement the same day and workers stayed on the job. The pact will cover about 960 active union employees and 550 retirees.
