CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Nov. 7)—C.U.E. Inc. has purchased Elementis P.L.C.´s Linatex Inc. urethane molding operation and formed a new company, C.U.E. of West Virginia L.L.C., to expand its product base. The acquisition for an undisclosed sum from London-based Elementis includes a 25,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in Mount Hope, W.Va., processing equipment and the molder´s customer list, C.U.E. President Joseph C. Scaletta said. Linatex specializes in the molding of liquid-cast, thermoset and TDI urethane compounds while C.U.E. molds liquid-cast, thermostat MDI urethane products. "They do some things similar to us but a number things that are different, which made them very attractive to us," Scaletta said. Current employees of the acquired unit have been offered posts with C.U.E. of West Virginia, he said, noting that Howard Perry, who managed the Linatex operation for the last 10 years, will remain as general manager.
