SOUTH GATE, Calif. (Nov. 2)—Industrial rubber hose maker Titan Industries purchased the assets of Kern Polymeric Products of Salisbury, N.C., a producer of large diameter hand-built hoses, on Nov. 1. Titan President Buddy Pepp said it bought Kern´s 20,000-sq.-ft. plant from parent company Perma-Flex of Newark, Del., after five months of negotiations, for an undisclosed amount. The facility employs 20, and Pepp said Titan has no intention of altering the success of Kern, but to build on it. Titan said a general manager will be appointed at the site to "add to what is already a seasoned and extremely knowledgeable group of individuals." Titan has plant locations in Denver, Houston and Los Angeles along with five warehousing facilities throughout the country.
