AKRON (Nov. 1)—The Goodyear-Treadco Inc. joint venture that will create what the companies say will bet world´s largest network of commercial tire service outlets and truck tire retreading facilities has cleared regulatory scrutiny. The review period by the Federal Trade Commission for the venture has expired, meaning the Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems became official Oct. 31. The partnership—60-percent owned by Goodyear—is a combination of 194 commercial tire and service centers, 77 retreading plants. With 3,000 employees, the business should post first-year sales of $650,000 Goodyear said.
