CHESHIRE, England (Oct. 25)—SSL International P.L.C. will sell its U.S. unbranded condom manufacturing plant in Eufaula, Ala., to Custom Services International Inc. and its Scholl product brand in Latin America. The international manufacturer and distributor of health care products also has entered into a long-term technology and licensing pact with Schering-Plough Healthcare Products Inc., the firm to which it sold the Scholl brand in Latin America, to develop new foot care products. Custom Services International paid about $8.3 million in cash for the Eufaula facility. The factory makes unbranded condoms that for government and aid agencies. CSI will continue making condoms at the site and will pick up supply contracts to agencies, the spokeswoman said. SSL will continue to produce branded condoms at facilities in Thailand, India, Spain, the United Kingdom and China for distribution worldwide, the company said.
