CINCINNATI, Ohio (Oct. 20)—DSM Elastomers plans to build a $110 million, 80,000 metric tons EPDM plant in Geleen, Netherlands. The DSM N.V. division expects the facility to start up by the fourth quarter of 2002 at a large complex of DSM facilities, including a separate EPDM plant, a company official said during the ACS Rubber Division meeting and mini-expo in Cincinnati. The company needed to expand its capacity quickly, and decided the Geleen site would fit that criteria better than its other facilities in North and South America and Japan. DSM already is involved in a $100 million, multiyear modernization of its Addis, La., EPDM facility, he said.
