CINCINNATI, Ohio (Oct. 19)—The ACS Rubber Division has selected two educators as winners of Science and Technology Awards. Gary R. Hamed of the University of Akron´s College of Polymer Science and Engineering won the George Stafford Whitby Award for distinguished teaching and research, and James E. McGrath of Virginia Tech was named the recipient of the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award. The division also selected a winner for its highest honor, the Charles Goodyear Medal, but won´t disclose his name until he has been reached and agrees to attend and lecture at the spring meeting in Providence, R.I., next April.
