WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 16)—The Rubber Manufacturers Association will work with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration to put a new tire safety standard and an early reporting system for safety-related data into place. "The industry is committed to working with NHTSA on getting a rule in place as quickly as possible and doing everything we can to promote further safety," RMA President and CEO Donald Shea said in a written statement. Congress´ passage of the Transportation Recall Enforcement, Accountability and Documentation Act and its probable adoption allows the RMA and NHTSA to develop a rule for an early reporting system for safety-related data, giving consumers the information at the earliest possible time, Shea said.
