TROY, Mich. (Oct. 10)—Collins & Aikman Corp. said today it will use Covisint, the global Internet exchange formed by General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co., DaimlerChrysler A.G., Renault S.A. and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. The acoustic products and mat producer anticipates Covisint will help lower its procurement costs, reduce time to market and enhance efficiency of its entire supply chain operation. "Given Collins & Aikman´s unique position as both a Tier 1 and major Tier 2 supplier, participation in Covisint not only will enhance our own business opportunities, but also will provide benefits for our customers and suppliers worldwide," Thomas E. Evans, chairman and CEO of Collins & Aikman, said in a written release.
