MILAN, Italy (Oct. 2)—EniChem S.p.A.´s decision to divest its polyurethanes business has led the group to cancel its planned venture with Qatar General Petrochemical Co., which was to build a toluene diisocyante plant in Qatar, EniChem confirmed. The two groups had planned to jointly build a 100,000 metric ton per year TDI facility using EniChem technology. Meanwhile, there is "considerable interest" for potential buyers of EniChem´s polyurethanes business, the Italian group representative said. However, he declined to comment on the likely outcome of negotiations.
