THOROFARE, N.J. (Sept. 29)—Ausimont S.p.A.´s North American subsidiary, Ausimont USA Inc., will build a $20 million fluoroelastomer plant beside its established fluoropolymer facility in Thorofare. Due on stream early in 2002, the new plant will help Ausimont meeting demand for fluoroelastomers in North America, which is growing at a rate about double that of the gross domestic product. according to Bob Grinwis, Ausimont USA´s business manager for the firm´s Tecnoflon fluoroelastomer range. "Operation of the new plant will give North American Ausimont customers significant additional capacity to support their growth here and abroad without fear of production shortages or long lead times that hamper customer output," Grinwis said. Ausimont´s Tecnoflon fluoroelastomer range ncludes copolymers, terpolymers, peroxide-curing and low temperature polymers for compression, transfer and injection moulding applications such as seals, O-rings and gaskets.
