NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 27)—Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. is "committed to working closely" with a group of 38 state attorneys general "to address concerns related to the recent voluntary recall effort," Bridgestone/Firestone Executive Vice President John Lampe said in a prepared statement. Some of the states involved in the working group, such as South Carolina, sought legal action against the tire maker for allegedly prioritizing other states in the recall of 6.5 million Firestone ATX and Wilderness AT tires. Others, such as California, have been asked to consider possible criminal charges against the tire maker.
