PARIS (Sept. 27)—Lear Corp. announced it will open a plant in Genk, Belgium, in October to supply seats for Ford Motor Co.´s forthcoming Mondeo model. Terms of the Ford-Lear contract were undisclosed, but Lear will employ about 400 workers at its planned 90,000-sq.-ft. facility, located adjacent to Ford´s Genk assembly plant. The Lear site will house an "intricate" conveyor system, Lear said, enabling the supplier to furnish seats on-time and in sequence of assembly to Ford.
