SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 20)—Erhardt+Leimer Inc. has created a new subsidiary to expand its offerings, sales and service and is in the process of purchasing a building for the operation. The new company, Duncan Technologies Inc., will be located in Spartanburg near its parent company in a 17,000-sq.-ft. facility that will handle assembly, some equipment work, sales and service, E+L President David S. Merritt said. The firm hopes to have the subsidiary at full force by the end of 2000, he said, "but that will depend on business. We´ll evaluate it then and determine our future needs then." Duncan will offer a complete line of equipment, sales and service to the tire and rubber industries, he said. It also will handle machinery for E+L´s other sectors, including textile, paper manufacturing, packaging, corrugated board, plastics and nonwoven equipment. "The tire and rubber industries are a large segment and a good growth area for us," Merritt said. "Creating Duncan gives us more to offer our customers. We´re devoting a lot of resources to tire and rubber and we´re excited about the growth prospects."
