NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 5)—Bridgestone/Firestone Venezolana will voluntarily replace about 62,000 mismarked tires manufactured in Venezuela. Original equipment and replacement tires involved in the company´s customer satisfaction program are the Venezuelan-produced Wilderness AT, white letter, size P255/70R16 and the Venezuelan-produced Wilderness AT, white and black letters, size P235/75R15. The tires were distributed only in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador. Though mismarked, the error does not affect the quality of the tires, the company said. In addition, based on the firm´s documentation, the tires were manufactured to appropriate specifications. The company decided to implement the voluntary customer satisfaction program to guarantee the complete satisfaction of its customers and despite its respectful disagreement with the tire-related findings of Venezuela´s Consumer Protection Agency, Bridgestone/Firestone said in a prepared statement.
