TOKYO, Japan (Aug. 30)—Yokohama Tire Corp. reported a 68-percent gain in operating profits last year, and broke into the black on a net basis for the first time in several years. The U.S. subsidiary of Japan´s Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. reported net profits of $1.4 million and operating earnings of $18.9 million. Yokohama Rubber´s sales in North America, which results from SAS Rubber and YH America in addition to Yokohama Tire Corp., fell slightly to $575 million.
