AKRON (Aug. 28)—Goodyear Chemical has appointed two officers to spearhead sales and marketing functions and increase top-line growth, the unit announced. Effective Sept 1, Karen Burke, currently manager at Goodyear´s Beaumont, Texas, specialty polymer plant, is named director of Goodyear Chemical marketing and sales, while Les Carnahan, manager at the tire maker´s Houston synthetic rubber plant, will take over as director of product supply. Burke joined the company in 1984 and has served in a number of production, buying and project-planning capacities, including project coordinator for the Beaumont site´s construction. Carnahan, with the firm since 1973, has served as Goodyear´s global business manager for tire chemicals as well as plant manager of its Niagara Falls, N.Y., facility. Both will relocate to Goodyear´s Akron headquarters.
