GREENVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 24)—JPS Industries Inc. recorded a $1.41 million in net profits for the third quarter compared with a loss last year as sales climbed 4.7-percent to $72.8 million. The company said its JPS Elastomerics division recorded an 8.7-percent decline in operating income to $2.1 million, although sales rose 9.8-percent rise to $22.4 million. The firm´s glass business had higher sale and doubled its operating profits, the apparel business cut its operating loss despite slightly lower sales in the quarter.
