PORTERDALE, Ga. (Aug. 10)—Dan River Inc.´s Engineered Products Division will invest about $3.5 million for a variety of new equipment at its 1 million-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in Porterdale. The machinery will replace older equipment at the plant and increase capacity for the division´s products, which include yarns for rubber hoses and fabrics used for conveyor belting, a company spokesman said. Delivery of the multiple pieces of equipment is expected to begin in early 2001 and will go on line immediately, he said. The company plans other investments in the division within the next two years, he said, but did not elaborate.
