TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Aug. 9)—Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. will recall at least some of the Firestone ATX, ATX II and Wilderness AT tires the National Highway Transport Safety Administration is investigating, a Ford Motor Co. official has confirmed. Speaking at the University of Michigan Automotive Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Martin Inglis, Ford vice president of North American brands, said the auto maker strongly supports Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. ``in this safety recall, but has not closed the investigation." Inglis said the tire maker has been a Ford team member since 1906, and will continue to be Ford´s partner. Bridgestone/Firestone and Ford Motor Co. are conducting a press conference in Washington about the recall that began at 11 a.m.
