TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Aug. 9)—Joseph C. Day, chairman and CEO of Freudenberg-NOK G.P., today was awarded the second annual Manufacturing Leadership Award from the Shien-Ming Wu Foundation at the University of Michigan Automotive Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City. Day received the award—which recognizes individuals who have made a profound impact on the manufacturing industry—for his strong leadership role in proliferating lean manufacturing throughout the automotive industry. Formed in 1993 in memory of S.M. Wu, a well-known manufacturing and engineering researcher and professor, the award last year went to Robert A. Lutz, chairman, CEO and president of Exide Corp.
