TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Aug. 9)—David Cole, director of the University of Michigan Office for the Study of Automotive Transportation, said he is retiring to take a post with the Environmental Research Institute. His exact role with the institute hasn´t been determined. Cole, who is host of the University of Michigan Automotive Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, is an oft-quoted analyst of the automotive industry, and on at least one occasion has spoken at a Rubber Manufacturers Association meeting.
