TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Aug. 9)—DaimlerChrysler A.G. today launched its "FastCar" Internet-based program to link in real time its design work and production activities to its procurement and supply network, sales and marketing. The new "e-architecture" will link the auto makers CATIA pipeline with its business infrastructure. "We´re not simply Web-enabling old systems; we´re creating a completely new way to communicate information and data in our organization, which will eventually replace old systems," said James P. Holden, DaimlerChrysler president and CEO. He spokes at the University of Michigan Automotive Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City.
