WASHINGTON (Aug. 7)—The Environmental Protection Agency has removed the tire industry from its list of sources of toxic emissions of hexachlorobenzene. The agency declared the industry is not a source of HCB after reviewing July 1999 test results from the Rubber Manufacturers Association which, the association said, corrected inaccurate test results from 1994. Tracey Norberg, RMA director of environmental affairs, said in a prepared statement that the agency´s action is "a victory for cooperation between government and industry."
