MANCHESTER, England (Aug. 4)—Over the next few months, Manchester-based Dunlop GRG Holdings will make "a managed exit" from the loss-making rubber compounding business it acquired from UniPoly S.A. just last year, said Mike Armstead, group chief executive. A number of factors contributed to the decision to halt compound production, including "massive overcapacity in the industry," and strong competition from other compounders wanting to fill their capacity, Armstead said.
