SALABERRY-DE-VALLEYFIELD, Quebec (Aug. 2)—Representatives of United Steelworkers Local 919 and Goodyear negotiated Aug. 1, the first time the sides have met without a conciliator since the union struck April 27. The dispute, which affects about 76 office and technical workers at Goodyear´s Valleyfield radial passenger plant, is over financial, job security and seniority issues. The union and company hadn´t met since June 12, which was the only other bargaining session scheduled during the three-month walkout.
