WATERFORD, N.Y. (Aug. 2)—GE Silicones has closed its acquisition of American Silicones Inc. under undisclosed terms, GE Silicones announced. Under the deal, ASI, a compounder of custom silicone elastomers, becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Silicones and will be integrated with its existing Chino, Calif., compounding operations. Waterford-based GE Silicones is a $1.4 billion operating division of GE Plastics. It employs 3,500 and manufactures over 4,000 products for markets including consumer retail, construction, health care and automotive, the firm said.
