FAIRLAWN, Ohio (July 26)—Akron Rubber Development Laboratories Inc. has purchased a building adjacent to one of its plants in Akron, the company´s second major expansion in the last five years. The acquisition was spurred by increased sales, internal growth, cramped quarters, the need to remain ahead in the testing and research field, and "the hard work of our talented chemists and engineers," according to Bob Samples, owner and CEO of ARDL. The new site will give ARDL another 28,000 square feet to go along with the 28,000 square feet in the building next door, purchased by the company in late 1995, and another 14,000 at a third plant, which it´s occupied since 1968, he said. Samples discussed the purchase during the International Latex Conference in Fairlawn.
