FAIRLAWN, Ohio (July 26)—Although nitrile latex already is a good substitute for natural rubber latex and polyvinyl gloves, improvements still must be made, said a technical manager from Synthomer Ltd. John Robertson, speaking at the International Latex Conference July 25, said nitrile latex must improve in four areas—cost and processing, tear strength and elasticity, polar solvent resistance, and allergen reduction—if it is to become the synthetic glove of choice. Recognizing nitrile´s shortcomings only will help make the glove more versatile in the future, he said.
