FAIRLAWN, Ohio (July 26)—Reducing variables in processing with latex is the only way to achieve end product consistency. That was the message of Ward Vaughn, quality/technical manager for Ansell Occupational Healthcare, who moderated a workshop on the topic July 25 at the International Latex Conference in Akron. He said process variables can be classified in two groups: those that occur naturally within the process and those caused by a removable event. To make sure a product is as consistent as possible, a company must determine what impact each variable has on the process and make whatever changes are needed to reduce the variation as much as possible.
