ST. LOUIS (July 25)—Union members employed globally by Japanese tire maker Bridgestone Corp. will meet to discuss strategies for addressing common labor problems at a world conference to be held July 31-Aug. 1 in St. Louis. Representatives of 16 Bridgestone unions from 14 countries will attend the event, which is being hosted by the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers´ Unions and its U.S. affiliate, the United Steelworkers of America. The USWA currently is in master contract negotiations with Bridgestone/Firestone Inc., a Bridgestone subsidiary.
