INDIANAPOLIS (July 25)—Dr. Beurt SerVaas, the Indianapolis physician, businessman and publisher famous for rescuing Uniroyal Inc.´s Indianapolis inner tube plant in the late 1970s, plans to sell off his last remaining rubber business, U.S. Rubber Reclaiming Inc. in Vicksburg, Miss. SerVaas, 81, said he has sold most of the more than 20 businesses whose fortunes turned around dramatically after he bought them. "I´m in my ninth decade," he said, "and as a doctor, I know how long we´re supposed to live. I want to sell my businesses while I still have all my marbles." SerVaas said he has been contacted by several potential buyers, but declined to say anything further. "We want the buyer to have the same quality record we do, so our customers will know their service will continue without interruption," he said.
