BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (July 21)—Newcor Inc. posted earnings of $7.4 million on sales of $67.7 million for the second quarter of calendar 2000, compared to earnings of $7.5 million on revenue of $64.9 million during the same period last year. Newcor attributed its increased sales to a 5-percent hike in the automotive market and a 39-percent hike in the agricultural segment to $2.3 million. The increases partially were offset by an 8-percent decline in its heavy-duty truck business, Newcor said. For the six months ended June 30, Newcor earned $76 thousand on sales of $136.8 million compared to net income of $1.13 million on sales of $129.6 million.
