SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (July 20)—Huntsman Corp. will acquire Rohm and Haas Co.´s Morton thermoplastic polyurethane business—which includes manufacturing sites in Ringwood, Ill., and Osnabrueck, Germany—and make it part of its growing Huntsman Polyurethane division. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Morton is strong in four product areas, Huntsman CEO Peter R. Huntsman said: aromatics, adhesives, aliphatics and coatings. Those strengths tie in well with Huntsman´s existing TPU business, primarily in the areas of footwear, automotive, and coatings and adhesives, he said. The deal will close after the companies receive government and regulatory approval, expected in late summer, the firms said.
